Getting there and around

Airport
Copenhagen airport is 9km (6mi) southeast of the city centre. After arriving at Copenhagen Airport in Kastrup, you can take the Metro (15 minutes), train (12 minutes), bus, taxi or car to downtown Copenhagen.

Public transport
When visiting Copenhagen the Metro is a safe, fast and easy way to get around. All Metro stations are marked with a red M. There are two lines, M1 runs from Vanløse Station to Copenhagen Airport in East Amager, and M2 runs from Vanløse Station to Ørestad in West Amager.

The S-trains - the regional trains - connect Copenhagen with the rest of the country. The trains depart from Copenhagen Central Station or the station at Copenhagen Airport.

Taxis can be flagged down anywhere in the city. If the yellow "Taxa" light on the roof of the car or in the front window is on, the taxi is available for hire. Copenhagen Water Taxi operates in and around the Copenhagen harbour.

Harbour buses run in Copenhagen Harbour from the Royal Library to The little Mermaid with stops in Nyhavn and by the Opera House.

Excellent bike paths, lots of bike racks and no hills make cycling a great option for getting around; just remember to lock up your bike. Similarly, Copenhagen is eminently walkable.
